New York, New York. I Love New York

We started off the day with a 45 minute train ride from Tarrytown to Grand Central Station. We started off walking to find Times Square. We got a bagel and hot chocolate. It was a little chilly when we got there so the hot chocolate was just what we needed. On the way we stumbled on the Today Show. They were breaking down the set outside and as we looked at the set inside we saw Al Roker. He was talking with Brian Williams. Couldn't get the best pic but it was cool to see them anyway. We also cut a commercial for the today show...or at least that is what they told us. I'm sure the other hundred they shot that day were just for fun. They weren't trying to sell us a $30.00 dvd or anything.
After that we browsed in some stores, did some shopping and made our way to Times Square. There we went to the M&M store where we bought over priced M&M's and stickers. The girls liked it though. After that we made our way to Planet Hollywood for lunch. There we saw lots of Hollywood memorabilia such as the clothes they wore in the Titanic and Twilight. They had hand prints of movie stars such as Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood and the girls favorites...Ashley Tisdale and the Jonas Brothers.
After that we were off to The Lion King. We had great seats. While we were there the ushers brought in someone and sat them maybe 20 feet from us. I looked over and saw that it was Hugh Jackman. WOW. He was with his wife and daughter. It sure made the scenery even better. He is gorgeous. What a great sighting. The show was spectacular. The costumes and singing and everything was wonderful. What an end to a great day. After the Lion King we bought some souvenirs and then made our way back to Grand Central Station. It took us a few minutes to figure out which train to take but we made it. After we got back to the the hotel we saw dad and Harriet. We talked to them for a few minutes then they left to go out to dinner. I went to the store to get stuff for dinner and then it was off to bed. Tomorrow we go back to the city. We will have a great tour guide...my sister Rachel is going to show us around. Stay tuned.....

New York City Here We Come

We arrived in Tarrytown, New York yesterday with an uneventful flight and taxi ride to the hotel. The girls were excited to ride in a taxi although they were hoping for the cash cab. When we got to the hotel I unpacked and got organized and Jim and the girls went to work out and to go swimming. We ordered pizza and went to bed fairly early to get up and get going early. Tomorrow...Times Square and the Lion King.

Tuesday is the day.

Tomorrow we will board our flight going to White Plains, NY. We are so excited, especially the girls. We are going there for my sister Robin's wedding. We are going several days early and will enjoy the sights of NYC and around White Plains. For now the girls and I are packing and and trying to get ready to go. If only they would quit fighting and arguing so I could actually concentrate on printing our boarding passes. We will keep you updated daily on our activities.

Love you.

School's Out...The fun has begun.

Well we had field day, end of the school year parties and yearbook signing. We now have a FOURTH GRADER AND A FIRST GRADER. It said so on the report cards. Which were awsome by the way. I am so blessed to have not only smart but nice kids. I know I am biased but it's my blog...I can be.
So we are gearing up for summer...NYC, school of religion, softball, gymnastics, St. Louis, Lake of the Ozarks and for me...work, work, work. I am trying to pick up extra shifts when I can. The three boys down the street will be sitting for us while we perform our adult responsibilities. Evan mostly and the girls are thrilled. I am sure Garrett and Austin will get in some hours too. They are great kids and we are blessed to have them. The girls love them.
That's it for now...

Finally

Well after a few months of not posting anything I am back. Sorry for the siesta.
Updates are:
We had a great Easter. We went to St. Louis to visit Jim's parents and family. It is always great to see everyone and the kids love seeing their cousins. Jim's brother John and his wife Becky are expecting another baby. We are sure excited about that. We are traveling to New York in June for my sister Robin's wedding. We are really excited and plan on going early to see the sights of New York.
Catherine ended her basketball season and softball is starting. She has missed several practices to rain and our snow which is unusual for this time of year. Although this is her first time playing softball, she is really looking forward to it. She is loving school and doing great.
Caroline had a gymnastics meet today and got a medal, three first place ribbons and a second place ribbon. She is very proud of them and very willing to show them off. Starting in the summer she is going to be on a pre-competative team. We are going to trial it for the summer and see how she likes it. She loves school as well and loves that she is learning to read. She is doing great.
Jameson is in temporairly in Hawaii working for the same company as he was in San Diego. He was doing so well in sales that they sent him there to try to boost their sales. The mall he is working in is on the beach and so he will call the girls and tell them that he sees a dolphin or whale jumping out of the water. We are all jealous of him and his really rough job (or at least the scenery part of it). He is doing well and we are really proud of him.
That is all of the updates as far as the kids. As for Jim and I the rest is status quo. Working and trying to keep up with the kids.
Hopefully the next post won't be 2 months from now. :)

Well I am feeling much better after all of the dental craziness I have experienced over the last week. The antibiotics have kicked in and feeling almost back to normal. I have several more visits though until the craziness is over.... I really hate going to the dentist. Good thing I found
one I like. The whole office is great.
As you can see, Catherine had a great basketball game saturday. She played against two of her friends which makes it more challenging. It was a great game. Really close at times and both teams played well. Grandma and Grandpa came to cheer Catherine on.
Caroline is doing well. Today she is going to a Daisy Scout meeting with a friend of hers from school. Maybe she will want to join now.
Jim went to St. Louis this past weekend. His dad is home from rehab after his knee replacement. He is doing well. Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes.
Jameson is doing well in Cali. He is trying to decide if he should come home and go to KU or just what to do at this point in his life. Time will tell.

Szukalski Family

Jameson stayed in San Diego for Christmas.  We sure missed him.  He went to Las Vegas for New Years.  It is a good thing that "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas".  Not sure I really want to know what really happened.  What I do know is that he had a great time and won a little money.

Happy New Year!!   We had a wonderful Christmas.  We were very blessed to receive many gifts this year.  Not only "stuff " but the joy of giving to others.  We adopted a family and had a lot of fun trying to give them a great Christmas.  We got to visit with Rachel and her friend Josh.  We exchanged gifts with grandma, grandpa and Aunt Rachel before Christmas.  We went to St. Louis on Christmas day to visit the Szukalski  side of the family.   We did not hear from the girls the entire trip due to wonderful gifts from Santa.  They listened to their Ipods and played Nintendo DS.   While in St. Louis we got to spend a lot of time with the Peters and John, Becky, Hannah and Faith.  Faith is getting so big.  She has cute chubby cheeks.  She looks like a little angel.  She has to be one of the happiest babies I have seen.  We had a great visit.  Jim will be going back because his dad is having a knee replacement on the 6th of January.  Please pray for him, the family and the people in the hospital performing the surgery and caring for him.

For New Years Eve, the girls and I watched tv, ate pizza and watched the ball drop in New York (twice).  I had so much fun  spending time with my girls.
